Wicker Maintenance

***This information is intended as a helpful guildeline. Maintenance may differ depending on product contents, and circumstances.

General cleaning is best done with a vacuum cleaner and a soft brush attachment.

Wicker Furniture and other Wicker products should never be left in direct sunlight, rain or dew. Even indoors, it's best to consider the levels of sunlight and humidity they're exposed to. Wicker which becomes too dry can become brittle and prone to breaking, while dampness can lead to mold and mildew.

Mold, mildew and stains should be removed immediately and thoroughly, with a damp cloth or sponge, a mild detergent and a soft brush (like a paintbrush) to get in the crevices. Remove as much moisture and detergent as possible with a dry cloth.

After cleaning, or whenever Wicker becomes damp, it should be dried quickly and thoroughly. The simplest way to do this is to put it in the sunlight on a warm day... which proves that there's an exception to every rule. Barring warm, dry conditions outdoors, electric fans or a hairdryer may be needed.

Never sit on Wicker Seating unless it is completely dry. Seat cushions are strongly recommended for Wicker Seating. In the case of Wicker, this is less for your comfort than for the longevity of the seat, which will otherwise weaken over time.

An optional acrylic varnish is available with most of our Wicker Furniture, which is strongly recommended for semi-outdoor use (on a covered porch, for example). A fresh coat of varnish may be required every 1 1/2 to 2 years.
